SOTS EXPANDS FROM BC’S INTERIOR TO THE COASTAL MOUNTAINS: WELCOME WHISTLER!

State of the Snowpack is growing! After building strong roots across BC’s interior, we’re excited to announce our expansion into the Coastal Mountains with a brand-new chapter in Whistler, BC for the 2025/26 season.

Starting this December, the community will gather monthly at Evo Village Sports for live State of the Snowpack events. These evenings will feature presentations from Whistler Blackcomb’s forecast team, who will share their deep knowledge of local conditions and avalanche safety.

Doors will open at 7:30 pm, giving plenty of time to settle in, connect with fellow backcountry users, and get ready for an evening of learning and community building. As with all SOTS events, admission is free, and we’ll be fundraising to keep this grassroots public-safety initiative growing strong across BC.

The very first Whistler SOTS event will be held in support of Whistler Search and Rescue (WSAR). All raffle proceeds will go directly to WSAR, supporting the vital work they do in keeping our community safe. A special guest speaker from WSAR will also join us, sharing practical advice on what to pack for backcountry travel and what steps to take if you ever find yourself in an emergency.
