SOTS 2025 AGM Recap: What’s Next for Our Community
On July 28, 2025, State of the Snowpack Public Safety Society (SOTS) held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) — and it marked a big milestone for our growing organization.
The AGM brought together our Board of Directors and community members to reflect on the past year and look ahead to what’s next. Here are some of the highlights:
What We Covered
Bylaws & Membership – Members voted to adopt updated bylaws, officially introducing Voting Membership to SOTS. This means community members can now play a direct role in shaping our future by electing directors, attending AGMs, and voting on key decisions.
Our Fiscal Year – We confirmed our fiscal year as October 1 – September 30, aligning with our program season and financial planning.
Financial & Sponsorship Updates – We shared our financial progress and celebrated new sponsors who are helping us grow.
Program Growth – The Board shared updates on our Backcountry Public Safety Outreach program and announced that we’re expanding into five new chapters this winter.
Why This Matters
This AGM represents another step in our evolution — moving from a grassroots effort into a sustainable, member-driven organization. With more chapters, more sponsors, and more members, we’re strengthening our ability to bring free avalanche-safety events to mountain communities across BC and beyond.
