  • CAA Level 3 / ACMG Ski Guide / CSGA Ski Guide

I have been a passionate skier for 47 years, having grown up in Banff on skis and have been actively involved as a professional for almost 25 years now. I now call Golden home, and I am fortunate to be able to ply my trade right here in our backyard.

After completing an Undergraduate Degree at the University of Victoria, I followed my passion back to the mountains of interior BC to pursue a career in guiding.

Most of my ski and avalanche risk management related experience has been acquired through working in the helicopter ski industry. I have accumulated over 2500 days helicopter skiing and have worked throughout the province in numerous mountain ranges and tenures, primarily in the Columbia mountains (because this is where the best snow is!).

I have progressed throughout my career in a linear fashion, getting my start apprenticing as a tail guide during my first couple of seasons, and then moving on to lead my own groups. As I continued to gain more experience and certification, I eventually took on the role of Lead guide for programs I have worked for. For the past 9 years I have taken on the role of Aea Manager for several different ski programs within CMH, namely the Bugaboos, Nomads and now Purcell. This Area Manager role and responsibility includes; managing all of the staff involved in running a successful helicopter ski lodge, but most importantly, being the primary risk manager for our field operations.

Kyle is a Level 2 SAR manager with Golden and District Search and Rescue and coordinates the organization's extensive technical rescue programs.
