In Memory of Judson Wright

Only a few weeks ago, we lost our close friend, guide, educator, father, and — without question — the best crosswalk guard this town has ever seen.

Judson Wright was the heartbeat of this community: a steady voice, a sharp mind, a generous mentor, and someone who showed up for people — in the mountains and in everyday life. He was the kind of person who made you feel welcome, who made learning feel accessible, and who reminded all of us that connection matters just as much as conditions.

Judson was a pillar of the backcountry community, and his absence is deeply felt by all who knew him. His impact — as a professional, a mentor, a father, a friend — is immeasurable. While we mourn this loss, we also recognize the incredible legacy he leaves behind in the people he influenced, the communities he strengthened, and the culture of care he helped build.

Judson Wright Legacy Foundation

The Judson Wright Legacy Foundation, established by his wife Kelly, honours Judson’s life by supporting initiatives that reflect his values — backcountry awareness, public education, mentorship, and community connection.

Judson believed deeply that knowledge should be shared, that learning should be accessible, and that strong communities save lives. This foundation carries that belief forward by supporting programs, events, and educational initiatives that help people better understand the mountains and make informed decisions in the backcountry.

Through this work, Judson’s impact continues — not just in memory, but in action.

We invite our community to be part of this legacy.

If you are able, please consider contributing to the Judson Wright Legacy Foundation and helping continue the work he cared so deeply about.
