Who is running this raffle?
The raffle is run by State of the Snowpack Public Safety Society (SOTS), a BC-based non-profit that delivers free avalanche awareness and snowpack education.
What is the prize?
The grand prize is one (1) 2026 Polaris 850 RMK Khaos 155 snowmobile, with an approximate retail value of $21,000 CAD.
The prize must be accepted as awarded — no cash alternative is available.
Who is eligible to purchase tickets?
To be eligible, participants must:
Be 19 years of age or older
Be a resident of British Columbia
Be physically located in BC at the time of ticket purchase
Be able to pick up the sled in person from Nelson, BC
Proof of age and residency may be required before the prize is awarded.
How much do tickets cost?
Tickets are available in the following bundles:
20 tickets — $20
100 tickets — $50
250 tickets — $75
500 tickets — $100
The total number of tickets available is capped as approved under the BC Gaming Event Licence.
Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets are sold exclusively online through Rafflebox, a registered Electronic Raffle Supplier (ERS) approved by the BC Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB).

When do ticket sales open and close?
Ticket sales open: January 5, 2026
Ticket sales close: March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM (or earlier if sold out)
When is the draw?
The draw will take place on April 4, 2026 at State of the Snowpack headquarters in Nelson, BC.
The winner will be selected using Rafflebox’s certified Random Number Generator (RNG) in accordance with BC Gaming regulations.
How will the winner be notified?
The winner will be contacted by email and phone within 24 hours of the draw.
The winner’s name and ticket number will also be posted on SOTS’ website and official social media channels.
How long does the winner have to claim the prize?
The winner has 90 days from the draw date to claim the prize.
If the prize is not claimed within that time, a secondary draw will be conducted using the original ticket pool.
How does prize pickup work?
The sled is pickup only.
The winner is responsible for arranging pickup and transportation from Nelson, BC.
No delivery or shipping is provided.
Will I have to pay PST on the sled?
Yes.
The winner is responsible for paying any applicable Provincial Sales Tax (PST), as well as registration, insurance, transportation, and any other costs associated with claiming, licensing, or operating the snowmobile.
Do I pay PST on raffle tickets?
No.
Raffle ticket purchases are not subject to PST, as they are considered gaming tickets under BC regulations.
How will the raffle proceeds be used?
All net proceeds support State of the Snowpack’s Backcountry Public Safety Outreach, helping deliver free avalanche awareness and snowpack education in British Columbia, while supporting the continued growth of SOTS programs across Canada.
Is this raffle licensed?
Yes. This raffle is conducted under a BC Gaming Event Licence (Class A) and complies with all regulations set by the BC Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB).
