CSGA Ski Guides Earn CPD Points for SOTS Presentations

We’re excited to share that Canadian Ski Guide Association (CSGA) members who deliver snowpack presentations at State of the Snowpack (SOTS) events will now receive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points for their participation.

This recognition applies to all SOTS presentations — both this season and in future years — and acknowledges the valuable role that professional ski guides play in advancing public avalanche safety through community education.

Presentations qualify for up to 15 CPD points per year, equivalent to contributing at other industry-recognized events such as the Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA), International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR), HeliCat Canada (HCC), or International Snow Science Workshop (ISSW).

Guides can find full details and record their participation using the CSGA CPD Audit Tracker, available online through the CSGA member portal.

About the CSGA

The Canadian Ski Guide Association is a nationally recognized organization that trains and certifies professional mechanized ski guides in Canada (CSGI). Through education, mentorship, and certification programs, the CSGA supports guides in maintaining the highest standards of safety, leadership, and professionalism in mountain environments.

SOTS is proud to see professional development programs like the CSGA’s CPD initiative recognize the importance of community outreach and the contributions guides make in keeping backcountry users in their communities informed and safe.
