SOTS Joins the Jasper Community for the 2025/26 Season
State of the Snowpack is honoured to announce the launch of a new chapter in Jasper, Alberta for the 2025/26 season.
This chapter will be led by a multi-partner group that includes Parks Canada, ACC Jasper/Hinton Chapter, Marmot Basin and Rockaboo Guides, whose local knowledge, professional expertise, and commitment to public safety have long been cornerstones of mountain life in the region. Together, we’re looking forward to bringing free, community-based avalanche awareness events to one of Canada’s most iconic mountain towns.
Standing With Jasper
The people of Jasper have faced immense challenges in the year or so following the wildfire that deeply impacted the community and surrounding landscapes. As recovery and rebuilding efforts continue, we’re humbled to be welcomed into this epic, tight-knit mountain town.
We believe that SOTS events can play a small but meaningful role in supporting Jasper’s recovery — by bringing people together, creating space for connection, and reinforcing the shared values of safety, knowledge, and community that define life in the mountains.
Event Details
The Jasper SOTS events will take place at the Jasper Legion, running from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the following dates:
Thursday, November 27, 2025
Thursday, January 22, 2026
Thursday, March 26, 2026
Each evening will feature avalanche professionals, Parks Canada forecasters, and local recreationists sharing insights into snowpack conditions, backcountry preparedness, and safe decision-making — all in an open and welcoming community setting.
Looking Ahead
We’re incredibly grateful to the people of Jasper for inviting SOTS to be part of their community during this period of renewal. These events are more than just avalanche education — they’re a reflection of the strength, spirit, and resilience of mountain towns across Canada.
Together, we look forward to helping foster connection, support, and safety in Jasper’s backcountry community this season and beyond.
