Every winter, mountain communities across Canada come together through State of the Snowpack to learn, ask questions, share experiences, and better understand the snowpack where they live, work, and recreate.
Some people leave with a better understanding of persistent weak layers. Others gain confidence using avalanche forecasts or companion rescue equipment. Many simply leave with new friends, new touring partners, and a stronger connection to their local backcountry community.
